The Centurion crabapple tree matures into an oval shape, reaching 25 feet in height and 20 feet in width. It displays reddish new foliage, rose-red flowers, and persistent 3/8” diameter red fruits. Cold-hardy buds burst into masses of rose-red blossoms in early spring, maturing to cherry-red fruit in fall. The tree exhibits high immunity to diseases. While not a typical food crop, its juice is used in jellies and cider. Centurion crabapples attract birds and butterflies, serve as excellent pollinators, and are popular in bonsai and for smoking.
